Founder / Bumblechutes
Erik
Raised in a small farming town in Illinois, Erik developed an early foundation built on discipline, work ethic, and a relentless drive to improve anything he touched. He pursued aviation at the collegiate level, earning two degrees in Aviation Technology while simultaneously joining the Army ROTC program with a clear objective: to become an aviation leader.
Over the course of 5.5 years, Erik became a Certified Flight Instructor, commissioned as an Aviation Officer in the United States Army, and completed a master’s degree in Human Resources Development. He went on to serve 12 years in the military, operating at a high level in roles that demanded precision and accountability, including medevac helicopter pilot, commander of an air traffic control company, and VIP fixed-wing pilot.
Today, Erik operates at that same standard across every area of his life. He is an airline pilot, a full-time business owner leading Bumblechutes, and, most importantly, a dedicated husband and father. Each role reinforces the same core principle: show up prepared, execute with excellence, and take ownership of the outcome.
That philosophy is what built Bumblechutes.
In his woodshop, Erik has spent years designing, testing, and refining products with the same level of rigor he applied in aviation and military operations. What began as a frustration with the limitations of traditional cutting board care evolved into a deep commitment to creating products that are measurably better; not just different.
Every Bumblechutes formula is the result of extensive research, real-world testing, and an uncompromising standard for performance. Nothing is outsourced. Nothing is guesswork. Each product is developed with intent, backed by experience, and built to deliver results that professionals and serious makers can rely on.

Crystal
Raised in a close-knit New England family as one of five siblings, Crystal developed a strong foundation rooted in resilience, care, and responsibility. That foundation carries through everything she does today. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Education and a master’s degree in Human Resources, combining structure, empathy, and leadership into a skill set that strengthens every aspect of Bumblechutes.
Crystal plays a vital role in the company, bringing both operational intelligence and a standard of care that directly impacts the customer experience. Her ability to balance precision with genuine connection ensures that Bumblechutes is not only a high-performance brand, but one that people trust.
Outside of the business, Crystal operates at the same level in the home. She is an exceptional cook who treats the kitchen as both a craft and a discipline. Every meal is intentional, and every detail matters. With cutting boards and kitchen tools in constant rotation, she understands firsthand what it takes to maintain wood surfaces at a high level for both performance and presentation.
That daily, real-world use is not theoretical. It is a proving ground. The products developed at Bumblechutes are held to her standard before they ever reach a customer.

Shipping Manager and Production Assistant
Rick
Rick is the operational backbone of the Bumblechutes workshop, ensuring that every product meets the standard the brand was built on. As Shipping Manager and Production Assistant, he oversees the flow of production and fulfillment with precision, consistency, and accountability.
Before joining Bumblechutes, Rick spent years serving in the United States Coast Guard, where discipline, reliability, and attention to detail were not optional—they were mission-critical. That same mindset now drives his work in the shop. Every order is handled with care, every batch is held to standard, and nothing leaves the door unless it reflects the level of quality customers expect.
Rick brings a hands-on, no-compromise approach to execution. From packaging integrity to production support, he ensures that what is built in the workshop arrives exactly as intended—safe, consistent, and ready to perform.
Outside of the shop, Rick is a dedicated family man and a proud, recently promoted grandfather. That role is not separate from his work—it reinforces it. He understands the value of responsibility, legacy, and doing things the right way, every time.
Rick does not just move products. He protects the reputation of everything that carries the Bumblechutes name.
