Bumblechutes Maker's Oil & Shop Wax Set

Maker's Oil & Shop Wax Set

$29.99

Includes: 8 oz Maker’s Oil and 8 oz Shop Wax

The essential two-product system for conditioning unfinished wood, refining completed projects, and keeping workshop surfaces protected and moving smoothly.

The Maker’s Oil & Shop Wax Set supports both sides of the craft: caring for what you make and maintaining the shop where you make it.

Maker’s Oil penetrates unfinished wood to restore richness, reveal the natural grain, and help slow the drying that can leave wooden projects looking pale or feeling rough. Its blend of premium mineral oil, natural vitamin E, and lemon oil applies easily without requiring an extended curing period.

Shop Wax completes the system with a smooth, protective surface layer. Apply it over oil-conditioned wood to help retain conditioning oils and create a refined, hand-buffed finish, or use it independently throughout the workshop to reduce friction and help protect tools, cast-iron machine surfaces, jigs, sleds, and hardware from moisture and oxidation.

Together, the two 8 oz containers provide a straightforward maintenance system for projects, tools, and work surfaces without unnecessary complexity.

Why it earns a place in the shop

Conditions dry, unfinished wood while enriching its natural color and grain.

Adds a smooth, moisture-resistant wax layer to compatible wooden projects.

Helps protect cast-iron machine surfaces against moisture and oxidation.

Reduces friction across jigs, sleds, runners, threads, and adjustment points.

Provides equal 8 oz quantities for regular project care and workshop maintenance.

Best for: Cutting boards, bowls, utensils, charcuterie boards, unfinished furniture, turned pieces, carvings, wooden handles, jigs, sleds, table-saw tops, jointer beds, planer tables, hardware, and other compatible wood or metal surfaces.

How to use on unfinished wood

Begin with wood that is clean, completely dry, and free from dust, grease, or incompatible previous coatings.

Apply Maker’s Oil in a thin, even layer using a clean, lint-free cloth.

Allow the oil to penetrate for approximately 20 to 30 minutes, then wipe away all remaining excess.

Repeat as needed on particularly dry or absorbent wood.

Once the oil has been absorbed and the surface feels dry, apply a thin layer of Shop Wax.

Allow the wax to settle for approximately 20 to 30 minutes, then buff thoroughly with a separate clean cloth until the surface feels smooth and dry rather than greasy.

How to use Shop Wax around the workshop

Clean the surface and remove dust, residue, or existing corrosion.

Apply a thin, even layer of Shop Wax with a clean cloth or applicator.

Buff nonporous metal surfaces immediately. On porous wooden surfaces, allow the wax to settle before buffing.

Reapply whenever material no longer glides smoothly or the protective layer appears worn.

What is included

8 oz Maker’s Oil: The penetrating conditioning step for restoring warmth, depth, and richness to unfinished wooden projects.

8 oz Shop Wax: The versatile protective and friction-reducing wax for completed wood surfaces, cast-iron machinery, jigs, sleds, runners, hardware, and general shop maintenance.

Choose the right finish

Choose the Maker’s Oil & Shop Wax Set when you want easy application, immediate usability, and renewable maintenance for unfinished wood and workshop surfaces.

For furniture, countertops, cabinetry, or projects requiring a hard-curing and more water-resistant finish, choose Bumblechutes Wood Finish or Polymerized Tung Oil instead.

Maker’s Oil and Shop Wax are renewable maintenance products. They do not create a permanent coating and should be reapplied when the wood begins looking dry, moisture resistance decreases, or workshop surfaces lose their smooth glide.

Condition the work. Maintain the shop: Maker’s Oil restores the wood, and Shop Wax protects the surfaces that keep the craft moving.
